📝📜 Daily Journal Entry #20
Subject: Self Esteem & Unhealthy narcissism.
Friends,
Welcome back 👋
For today's journal prompt, we are going to explore the topic of narcissism and envy, inspired by a recent podcast episode between Lex Fridman and Paul Conti which I will link below 👇
Narcissism and envy are two complex human emotions that have been explored by many philosophers and psychologists throughout history. In the podcast, Conti dives deep into the nature of these emotions and their impact on our daily lives.
One question I found interesting was when Conti asked, "What is the difference between healthy self-esteem and unhealthy narcissism?" This question encourages us to reflect on our own self-esteem and how we view ourselves. Are we confident in our abilities and proud of our accomplishments, or are we constantly seeking validation from others?
Conti also discusses envy, and how it can be destructive to both ourselves and our relationships. He asks, "What is the root of envy and how can we overcome it?" This question challenges us to examine our own envy towards others, and whether it stems from a place of insecurity or a desire to improve ourselves.
Throughout the podcast, Conti provides insights and tips on how to cultivate healthy self-esteem and overcome envy. One snippet from the podcast that resonated with me is when he said, "It's important to remember that we are all on our own unique journey. We should focus on our own growth and not compare ourselves to others."
So, for today's journal entry, I encourage you to reflect on your own self-esteem and any feelings of envy you may have towards others. Ask yourself: What is the root of my own self-esteem? Am I constantly comparing myself to others, or am I confident in my own abilities? What can I do to overcome any envy I may have towards others?
Remember, self-reflection is a powerful tool for personal growth and development. Let's take the time to explore our own emotions and work towards becoming the best versions of ourselves.
