Subject: Channeling Your Inner Adventurer: A Journey Towards Clearly Defined Outcomes
Hey Friends,
Welcome Back ๐
I hope you are all having a great weeked. Today, I want to share with you an inspiring conversation I recently listened to on the Modern Wisdom Podcast, where the host Chris Williamson interviewed Peter Akkies, a renowned productivity expert and creator of the course "Organize Your Life with Todoist".
Peter's insights into productivity, habit formation, and goal setting were truly enlightening. He emphasized the importance of having clearly defined outcomes before embarking on the path to achieving our goals and dreams. This resonated deeply with me, and I believe it will with you too.
One of the key takeaways from the podcast was Peter's approach to productivity. He believes in the power of task management and has even developed a course to help people organize their lives using Todoist. His philosophy is simple yet profound: "if you care about your productivity and want to show up as your best self, you must use a task manager." ย
I have not personally taken this course nor am I affiliated in any way but I do plan on purchasing the course for myself and plan to write a perosnal review once completed so make sure you are signed up to recieve the newsletter!
Peter also shared his personal journey of building better habits, such as journaling and practicing gratitude every morning. He discussed the challenges of forming mental habits, like his personal goal to complain less, which he wrote about in his blog post. He emphasized the need for a compelling reason to adopt a new habit, which he believes is the key to lasting change.
In another post, Peter introduced the concept of "productivity purgatory" - a state where you're not productive, but you're not allowing yourself a break either. His solution? Give yourself permission to take a break when you need it, step out of the productivity purgatory, and come back refreshed to crush that important task.
Now, let's translate these insights into our journal prompt for today:
Journal Prompt:
Write a letter to your future self, detailing your biggest dreams you hope to accomplish and encourage yourself to stay the course. What is the clearly defined outcome you're aiming for? How will you navigate the path to reach it? Reflect on the habits you need to form and the mindset you need to adopt. How can you avoid falling into 'productivity purgatory'?
This prompt is meant to encourage deep reflection and creativity, closely tied to the lessons shared by Peter Akkies. It requires storytelling and emotion, channeling your inner adventure spirit.
As you write, remember to be kind to yourself. Change takes time, and it's okay to take a break when you need it. If you're new to journaling and need some guidance, check out my previous post on how to start journaling.
Before you dive into today's prompt, I encourage you to sign up for our newsletter. Every day I share personal growth and self development themed insights and journal prompts to get you thinking and remind you of the big picture.
Happy journaling, and remember - the journey is just as important as the destination!
With all my heart,
Your Friend, Austin โคโ
