ππDaily Journal Prompt #18
Subject: Shifting Our Mindset
Friends,
Hey there π
Welcome back π Today's journal prompt is inspired by the conversation between Joe Rogan and Francis Ngannou on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. This episode is one I enjoyed so much I will re listen to it occasionally just to get a little extra motivation.
Francis Ngannou is a Cameroonian-French professional mixed martial artist who competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In this episode, Ngannou shares his inspiring story of how he went from being a young man in Cameroon who worked in a sand quarry to becoming a world champion MMA fighter. The story is not only inspiring but very emotional and heart breaking. He quickly became my favorite athlete in the UFC following this episode.
One of the thought-provoking questions that came up in the conversation was the idea of destiny. Ngannou discussed how he believes that he was destined to become a fighter and that his difficult upbringing was preparing him for that path. He said, "I always had that belief inside me, that I was meant to do something bigger."
This got me thinking about the concept of destiny and how it relates to our own lives. Do we believe that we have a specific purpose or destiny? If so, how do we go about discovering it? Or do we believe that we create our own destiny through hard work and perseverance?
Another interesting topic discussed in the podcast was the importance of mindset. Ngannou talked about how he had to change his mindset from that of a victim to a champion. He said, "I had to change my mindset from 'I'm struggling' to 'I'm training to be a world champion'."
Reflecting on our own mindset, how do we approach challenges and setbacks in our lives? Do we view them as opportunities to learn and grow, or do we become overwhelmed by them?
As Ngannou's story shows, anything is possible with hard work, determination, and the right mindset. So, our journal prompt for today is: How can I shift my mindset to overcome challenges and achieve my goals?
