Journal Prompt 240- No one Is Coming To Save You.
No one is coming to save you!
Happy Sunday Everyone. Thank you for sharing a few minutes of your day with me. I apologize for last week's absence, I was celebrating my 9 year anniversary with my wife and was out of town.
This past week I have been reflecting on some very specific points in my life that I realize I could have done things much differently. I have made many mistakes and often times I have relied on others to help get me out of the mess I made. As I get older I realize more and more why they say "No one is coming to save you." Let me explain.
As I said, there have been many times in my life where I have relied on someone to metaphorically come and save me. And every time I have been more than grateful for them doing that. That being said, they never truly saved me. To me this quote is not meant to be a pitty party of not having people in our corner. No, quite the opposite. I have had so many people in my corner throughout my life and I know how blessed I am to be able to say that. The problem is they can't truly save me because only I am capable of doing that.
The people in our lives are never responsible for the choices we make, they aren't the ones who break the law, gamble our money away, take those drugs or whatever your vice might be. You did that! And when you get to the point that you need saving they might be able to lend you that money, get you in that rehab, Put a roof over your head, but they can't change the decisions you have made and they can't make sure you change those behaviors that got you in that position in the first place.
NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU!
You have to be your own hero. If you want things to change you need to be accountable for the steps necessary to make that change. Now with that in mind.
What Do You Need To Do To Save Yourself?
Don't be afraid to ask for help. And people are there for you. Just keep in mind that no one but you can make you change, only you can do that.
