Subject: Navigating an ever complex social world to find love.

Hey Friends,

Welcome back 👋

Today, we're diving into an inspiring podcast episode I recently listened to on Modern Wisdom, featuring the remarkable Sadia Khan. For those unfamiliar with Sadia, she's a relationship coach, author, speaker, and psychologist, who has insightful wisdom to share on navigating the complexities of modern dating. 👇

In the podcast episode, Sadia discusses a multitude of aspects related to relationships. One of the most striking points was the steady rise in the divorce rate over the past decades. Is it that relationships are getting harder, or are we just becoming more fragile? This question led me to introspect, and I invite you to do the same.

Sadia also delved into the misuse of the term 'trauma'. Nowadays, the word 'trauma' is frequently used to cover a broad range of experiences, many of which, in reality, are not traumatic events. This perverted use of the term tends to diminish the severity of actual traumatic experiences, and Sadia invites us to understand this.

Interestingly, she also touched upon factors that best predict divorce and a declining relationship, things like praise vs criticism. Furthermore, she discussed the insidious reasons why partners sometimes create chaos in their relationships. Sadia's insights offer a fresh perspective on these subjects, and they have given me food for thought.

Lastly, she shared her thoughts on the growing trend of childlessness and questioned whether Dubai is an actual Islamic haven, broadening the scope of the conversation.

As I absorbed these insights, I felt a strong urge to share them with you and create a journal prompt that could help us apply these lessons in our lives. This topic is one I debate with myself regularly. I have young children that I worry for. I have been with my wife for 11 years and while there was social media when we first started dating, navigating the dating scene was not nearly as complex as it seems to be today

With all that in mind, here is today's journal prompt:

"Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your younger self or your children about dating and relationships?"

I want you to deeply reflect on this question. Think about your past relationships, the challenges you've faced, and the lessons you've learned. If you could go back in time and guide your younger self, what would you say? How would you aid your child or children while also letting them experience necessary life lessons that come from dating?

Journaling can be an incredibly powerful tool to process these thoughts. As you write, you might discover patterns and behaviors that you weren't previously aware of. You might uncover past traumas that need healing, or you might realize that certain expectations or misconceptions have been causing chaos in your relationships.

Remember, there is no right or wrong answer. This exercise is about understanding yourself better and potentially finding ways to improve your present and future relationships. The wisdom we gain from our experiences can be the key to navigating the complexities of modern dating.

I hope this journal prompt encourages thoughtful introspection and fosters a deeper understanding of your journey through dating and relationships. As always, I'm eager to hear your insights and reflections. Let's continue this journey of self-discovery together.

Until our next rendezvous.

With all my heart

Your Friend, Austin ❤✌
