Subject: Unmasking Perfection: A Reflection on 'What Made Maddy Run'"

Hey Friends,

Welcome Back πŸ‘‹

Today, I want to share with you a book that was recommended on the Joe Rogan Podcast by Ryan Holiday -"What Made Maddy Run" by Kate Fagan. This book tells the heartbreaking story of Madison Holleran, a young woman who, despite her seemingly perfect life, tragically ended her own life during her freshman year at the University of Pennsylvania.

What Made Maddy Run- Kate Faden

Madison was a star athlete, a top student, and a beloved friend and family member. Yet, beneath the surface of her curated social media presence, she was grappling with the immense pressures of college life, athletics, and maintaining the image of perfection.

As I listen to Madison's story, I couldn't help but reflect on the pressures we all face in our daily lives. We live in a world that often values achievement and outward appearances over mental health and genuine happiness. We're constantly bombarded with images of perfection on social media, leading many of us to feel inadequate or overwhelmed.

So, today's journal prompt is this:

What pressures do you feel in your life, and how do they affect your mental health? How can you prioritize your well-being over societal expectations of perfection?

This question isn't an easy one to answer, but it's an important one. It encourages us to look beyond the surface, to question the images of perfection we often strive for, and to prioritize our mental health. It's a reminder that it's okay not to be okay and that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a testament to our strength.

Remember, it's essential to check in with ourselves and those around us. Let's continue to foster open conversations about mental health and support each other in our journeys.

Until next time, take care of yourselves and each other.

With all my heart
