Subject: The Journey to Authenticity

Hey Friends

Welcome Back πŸ‘‹

Today I watched a YouTube video clip featuring Andrew Schultz and the Nelk Boys, where Andrew expressed his frustrations with the podcast hosts for not being authentic. It was interesting to watch because both Schultz and the NELK boys have extremly large platforms so to hear Andrew point out his frustrations with a lack of authenticity and certain individuals "playing a character" kind of reminded me that even at the highest level of fame, authenticity can exist.

Schultz points out that two things can be true at the same time. referencing the idea that you can enjoy what you do while also doing certain things because it brings you money and fame. I really liked that he was willing to admit that it does take self interest to be in the position he is in, otherwise he wouldn't be behind the mic for the podcast at all. But that doesn't mean you can't be genuine when you aren't being an entertainer. This video, coupled with my own reflections on authenticity, inspired me to write today's journal prompt.

Before we dive into the prompt, I want to share a bit about my journey and why I started this blog. Something I have not really shared with you in the past.

I've always aspired to be nothing but authentic in my life and in my writing. I am not a pillar of discipline in every aspect of my life, and I don't always finish everything I start. I could be a better husband, a better father, a better friend. I have many flaws and insecurities. But I am always working to improve on those.

I started this blog because I wanted to create something that reflected my authenticity and desire to improve myself. I wanted to create a community for people who feel like I do, to have somewhere they can go and feel like they're heard. I know I have a lot I can improve on, but I think that's the beauty of life, we all do. I have always found that writing, in any capacity, has helped me find those things in my life I need to improve on and I wanted to help others begin to write their own self improvement story who may have otherwise not known where to start.

Reading, journaling, podcasts, strength training, and personal fitness goals have all been fundamental in my life. They have provided me with so much guidance and stability. One thing I always felt like I was missing was a mentor, that big brother figure to nudge me back in the right direction in life. I don't want to force any type of role on you, I am not trying to be a mentor, or a big brother but I am trying to provide a source of guidance when someone needs it. I am trying to help you write your own story, create your own path of success and happiness. Help you be the person you needed when you were younger. I am trying to be the person I needed in the toughest moments of my life.

With that said, here is our journal prompt for today:
