ππ Daily Journal Prompt #53
Subject: Longevity
Hey Friends
Welcome Back π
Today's prompt takes inspiration from a recent episode of the Modern Wisdom podcast with the guest Bryan Johnson, founder of Braintree and Kernel, futurist, biohacker, and authorβ1β.
In this fascinating conversation, Bryan shared his journey towards immortality and the cutting-edge science and technology he's leveraging to prolong his life. He also discusses his fully plant-based diet, his elaborate morning routine, his views on self-destructive behavior, and his thoughts on death and fearlessness towards itβ. It was a really interetsting listen and I would highly reccomened checking it out π
Drawing from Bryan's quest for immortality, let's shift our focus inward and ask ourselves this question:
How am I consciously making choices to prolong my quality of life, and what steps can I take to enhance my longevity?
There's so much to unpack in this question. Bryan's life is an example of intentionality and mindful living. He has a set routine, a specific diet, and he's investing in technology to extend his lifespan. But his approach goes beyond physical health. Bryan also discusses his lack of fear of death, which suggests a level of mental and emotional stability and acceptance.
As you reflect on this question, consider not just your physical health, but also your mental and emotional well-being. What are the self-destructive behaviors that you might be clinging onto? How can you let go of these and replace them with habits that serve your health and longevity?
It's not about aiming for immortality like Bryan, but about making the most of our time here. After all, longevity isn't just about the quantity of years, but the quality of life within those years.
Remember, the beauty of this exercise lies in honesty and openness to change. Take this as an opportunity to reassess your lifestyle and make necessary amendments. We're all a work in progress, continually learning, growing, and evolving.
For those interested in exploring the topics discussed in Bryan Johnson's episode further, particularly the science behind aging and potential strategies for extending lifespan, a highly recommended read is "Lifespan: Why We Ageβand Why We Don't Have To" by David A. Sinclair. This book offers a fascinating exploration of the biology of aging and presents a compelling case for why we might be able to slow, stop, or even reverse aging in the future.
Life Span Why We Age and Why We Don't Have ToRemember, the journey of self-improvement is a marathon, not a sprint. Enjoy the process and keep exploring.
Until our next rendezvous.
